Empowering families today, tomorrow and always.

Our mission is to empower families towards self-sufficiency through a holistic strengths-based approach with a high emphasis on community collaboration, skill development, and the identification of potential barriers to upward mobility.

About Us

Community engagement is the core of our efforts, propelled by sustainable and measurable results in areas such as housing, employment, food security, education, health, wellness, and restorative practices.

Our Vision
Our work is a quest to Rebuild, Restore and Renew through innovation and intervention.  Our resolve is reinvigorated and revitalized communities where food, health, education and housing access is super abundant.

OUR PROGRAMS

Move Your Body May

Move Your Body May is a broadening of Move Your Body South Memphis. It is an innovative initiative to integrate fitness and body movement into urban communities to fight health disparities and healthcare challenges. We target the whole body, mind and soul as we show moving around and getting exercise can be fun.

Move Your Body May is a month long venture with activities lead by professional instructors specifically designed for the entire family. Activities include zumba, tai chi, yoga, walking groups, line dancing, cardio aerobics and community slow roll bike rides.

Join us every May as we Move and Groove.

OUR PROGRAMS

Community Resource Fair

It is important that families understand and are acquainted with the social assistance in our city. These agencies are often significant in the cycle of progression. Memphis leads the way with services that promote sustainable family development. As a community development corporation a great portion of our role is to identify barriers, work to remove barriers, create action plans and provide direct connections to services that move families from instability to self-sufficiency.

Our resource fairs offer windows of opportunity and exposure to critical elements that offer hope. We’re so fortunate to have the backing of our dedicated community partners that work in healthcare, education, food spaces, banking, employment and social care to support and interlock services for families every day.

We join forces and bring a plethora of resources to the community every year. We do this in an effort to build better families and ultimately better communities.

OUR PROGRAMS

Neighborhood Block Party

Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves attest to our work and community commitment.  Our parties are nothing less than social gatherings where residents and community friends can chat over the latest news, share laughs and celebrate with food and family fun. They are much more than parties. They are our way of giving space to those who are most needful.

They are great opportunities for neighbors to  reconnect while mingling with our staff and other district shareholders. Keeping the families at the core of our work is purposed and deliberate.

We want to make sure they’re well informed, served and safe. The spirit of neighborhood community is infectious and intentional with our efforts to bridge gaps through block party Initiatives that draw the spirit of Am I my brother’s keeper.
