Food and Cooking Education

The Works, Inc. is the only Share Our Strength Cooking Matters partner in West Tennessee. The Cooking Matters curriculum educates community members on food resource management, food and kitchen safety, healthy eating, cooking, and meal preparation skills. Additionally, participants receive take-home groceries and educational handouts to reinforce skills and knowledge learned in class. Cooking Matters courses are held weekly over a 6 week period; each session lasts two hours. Participants will be in groups of 4 to 5 students. Lessons are participatory in nature and will be led by a qualified culinary instructor.
